Obituary of Kenneth J. Simmons

NASSAU - Kenneth J. Simmons, 77, of Nassau NY, passed away suddenly at home on Tuesday, May 24th, 2022. Ken was born in Schenectady, NY, the son of late William E. Simmons and Marie Traver, whom he adored so much. 

 

Ken served in the US Navy from 1962-1966 during the Vietnam War. He also retired in 2016 as a Project Manager with GSA (US General Services Administration of the United States Government) after 40+ years of service.

 

Ken absolutely loved the outdoors and being at camp. He loved hunting, fishing, snowmobiling, 4wheeling and most certainly being Head Chef for all of his outdoor Family at Robinwood Park in Sabattis, NY. This was his second home and certainly his Family! Ken enjoyed many weekends in his favorite place with his best friend, Al Lam of Cohoes, NY. They all enjoyed their weekends together, making the best memories - especially getting stuck in the mud. One of his favorites.

 

Ken is survived by his best not so little 4 legged buddy Cain, his wife Lona Simmons, his daughters Kendra Simmons, Michele Simmons, his son Nathaniel Simmons several step siblings, many nieces, nephews and cousins. Ken is predeceased by his siblings Thurston(Ted) Simmons (Phyllis Simmons) and Lotus Petrie (Marcus Petrie).   

 

 

Relatives and friends are invited to his calling hours Friday from 4-7 pm in the Rockefeller Funeral Home 165 Columbia Tpk. Rensselaer followed by a Celebration of his life ceremony at 7:00pm. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family

 

In lieu of flowers please consider donating to Montgomery County Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals. This is where his best friend was adopted from, they are also raising funds for a new facility which is needed so much!
