Raymond Tesiero Jr.

Obituary of Raymond C. Tesiero Jr.

Raymond C. Tesiero Jr, 87, passed away on May 24th, 2022 at home with his loving wife, Mary, at his bedside. Born on February 20th, 1935 in Amsterdam NY, he was the son of the late Raymond Charles Tesiero Sr and Frances Coppola Tesiero.  He was a graduate of Wilber H. Lynch High School and attended Clarkson College. After serving in the United States Navy, he was employed by GE in the Apprentice Training Program as a Mechanical Draftsman in the Steam Turbine Generator division.    In 1966, he began his 30 year career with the State of New York in O.G.S. retiring as Chief of the Bureau of Project Coordination in 1995. During that time he was Assistant Chief of Bureau of Space Planning and Allocation; Building Construction Program Manager in the Division of Design and Construction; and coordinator of the World Trade Center Tenant Relocation Task Force.

Following his retirement, he worked briefly as a Consultant-Transition Coordinator for the Albany County Airport Authority. He was a dedicated parishoner of the Church of St. Mary in Clinton Heights serving on the Parish Council, the Finance Committee, as a Eucharistic minister, a lector, a collection counter and a seventh grade catechist for seven years.

He was a devoted dad to his four children taking them to music, swimming and gymnastics lessons; coaching EG Girls' Softball, Little League and EG Soccer. An avid sportsman himself, he played racquetball, handball, golf, bocce, bowled and even ran a marathon. He was an enthusiastic supporter of the Yankees and Duke Basketball teams, coaching from his favorite chair. However, golf was his passion. The Old Timer's League at Frear Park, Troy, and a travel league with seven friends gave him great pleasure.

He had an uncanny natural ability for the installation or repair of anything mechanical or electrical; any plumbing, heating or air-conditioning task; and the many construction projects his wife and children required through the years. There just wasn't anything Ray couldn't do.

His faith and family were most important in his life and he is survived by his cherished wife of 59 years, Mary (Callahan) Tesiero; his children, Kelly (Will) Morris, Dr. RC (Michelle) Tesiero, Ryan (Jeni) Tesiero, Ross (Heather) Tesiero; and his grandchildren, Matt Morris, Rachel Morris, Charlie Tesiero, Samantha Tesiero, Marin Tesiero, Hayden Tesiero, Joshua Tesiero and Jacob Tesiero. Ray is survived by his sister, Betty DeRose, and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister, Mary McGrath.
