Obituary of Cynthia M. Reineke

East Greenbush - Cynthia M. Reineke affectionately known as Cindy or Sid, 69, of East Greenbush passed away suddenly Sunday, April 10, 2022, at Home.


Cynthia was born October 29, 1952 in Albany, New York, the daughter of the late Joseph and Florence M. (Tice) Lamb Jr.. She married Robert Reineke on June 1, 1974.


She graduated from Columbia High School in 1970 and from Ithaca College with a Bachelors in Music Education in 1974. 


She was a Teacher Assistant for East Greenbush Central Schools, East Greenbush. She worked with students at Red Mill Elementary, Columbia High School and Genet Elementary. Having grown up in the First United Methodist Church of East Greenbush she was a member of the Sanctuary Choir and eventually became the Children’s Choir director. She was able to fulfill her dream of having a bell choir and established the EmBellishments and later added the Chimettes. She was also an active member of the United Methodist Women. In 2001 she attended her first Handbell Conference for Area 2 Handbell Musicians of America. She went on to serve as historian, New York State Chair and the Education Chair. Over the years she attended multiple Area Conferences and National Seminars. Taking classes at the conferences she developed a love for solo ringing and bell trees and often played in church. As a life member of the East Greenbush First Department, she was currently serving as the Membership secretary of the Ladies Auxiliary. She was also a life member of the Ladies Auxiliary Hudson Mohawk VFA and the Ladies Auxiliary Hudson Valley VFA where she served in various roles in each. In the past she was also an active member of the Holiday Ramblers Chapter 51 and attended many rallies around the country and Canada over the years. She enjoyed going camping and sitting by the fire.  She also enjoyed baking, reading, playing miniature golf and dominoes. Besides when she was making music her most cherished time was when she was spending time with her granddaughter Kathryn. 


Survivors include her husband of 47 years Robert E. Reineke, daughter Julie Farris, sisters Adella Lamb (Janice Coffin) and Barbara Schoonmaker (step-sister), brothers Joseph Lamb (Denise)  and Herbert Lamb (Anne), granddaughter Kathryn Farris and nieces Kendra, Kelsey and Stephanie Lamb.


A Celebration of life will be held Monday April 18th, at 11:00 am at the East Greenbush United Methodist Church 1 Gilligan Rd East Greenbush.


Friends and relatives may call Thursday from 4-7 at The Wm. J. Rockefeller Funeral Home 165 Columbia Tpk. Rensselaer.


In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Cynthia’s name to the EmBellishments at First United Methodist Church or to the East Greenbush Fire Department
