Obituary of Charles H. Behrens Jr.

WYNANTSKILL - Charles H. Behrens Jr., 95, of Wynantskill, passed away Thursday, January 27, 2022, at St Peters Hospital.

Charles was born November 24, 1926, in Niverville, New York, the son of the late Charles and Orietta (Van Wormer) Behrens Sr.

He served in the US Marine Corps during  World War IIHe was a Mechanic for Van Ackers garage in Rensselaer until 1967 when he went to work for NYS as a Mechanical Equipment Inspector and then Specification Writer until retiring 1985. Chuck was an avid Square Dancer and was a member of the Country Round and Square dancers, and Adirondack Fiddlers. Charles was also active in the Bloomingrove church and held many offices there, including being the caretaker of the Bloomingrove cemetery.

He was predeceased by his wife Catherine (Bazicki) Behrens and Siblings Charlotte Hunt, Orietta Wolf, and Earl "Bill" Behrens. 

Survivors include son Robert (Nancy) Behrens, stepsons Daniel Embree and John Embree, as well as his long time companion Margaret Decker.

Friends and family are invited to his calling hours 4:00 PM - 6:00 PM on Sunday at the Wm. J. Rockefeller Funeral Home Inc., 165 Columbia Tpk in Rensselaer. The Funeral Service will be held Monday at 1:00 PM Monday at the Wm. J. Rockefeller Funeral Home, Inc. Burial will be in the Bloomingrove cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Charless name to Mohawk Hudson Humane Society 3 Oakland Ave Menands, NY 12204.
