Obituary of Julia V. Race
DeFreestville- Julia V. Race, 92, of passed away Thursday, January 20, 2022, with her family by her side.
Born in Albany, she was the daughter of the late Ferdinand and Frances (Vasku) Vybiral of Castleton whose family ran "the sweetcorn farm".
Julia was salutatorian of the class of 1947 at the former Castleton Union school, Castleton, and a graduate of Bryant College in Rhode Island with a BS degree in secretarial science. After graduation she worked as a legal secretary for 20 years for several attorneys in Albany. She was a charter member of the now defunct Albany legal Secreteries chapter. She worked as an executive secretary for Cibro Petroleum oil terminal in the port of Albany for over 30 years, retiring at the age of 80. She was a member of St. Michael's the Archangel in North Greenbush. She will be missed by her family and friends and all the hearts she touched over her life.
She is survived by her children son Howard Jr. of Castleton daughters Stephanie and Sherrill ( Daniel) Hart of North Greenbush sisters Marcia (James) Finkle of California Irene (Kenneth) Melton of Pennsylvania and many nieces nephews whom she loves and care for.
In addition to her parents she was predeceased by her brother Ferdinand Jr. husband Howard Sr.
Services will be private at the convenience of the family
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Julia’s name to a charity of the donor's choice.
