Obituary of Virginia W. Mahlstedt

 

VIRGINIA WILDE MAHLSTEDT, age 104 died January 15, 2022 at  Van Rensselaer Manor Nursing Home.   Ginny was born July, 1917 in N.Y.C. and spent her early years in New Rochelle. She was the daughter the late Stanley Wilde Sr. and Elizabeth Keil. Graduated from Brantwood Hall School for Girls in Bronxville in 1935 and went on to model  and  work  retail on 5th Avenue in N.Y.C.  In 1938  she  married  the  late Robert A. Mahlstedt Jr., who passed away suddenly in 1988. She was also pre-deceased by her brother Stanley Wilde, Jr.   In 1954 the family moved from Westchester Co. to East Greenbush where she resided until 2008 before moving  to the  Atria Shaker in Loudonville. She had resided at Van Rensselaer Manor since 2013. She  is survived by her children, Robert A Mahlstedt Ill ( Patricia ) Houston, TX.; Richard W. Mahlstedt (Suzanne), Glenmont; David H. Mahlstedt (Mary) E. Greenbush and grandchildren; Cara Hart; Colchester, CT; Stephen Mahlstedt (Cassandra), Slanesville, W. VA; Michael Mahlstedt Houston; TX Jeffrey Mahlstedt (Jennifer) Austin, TX, ;Allison Callender (Mark), Houston, TX; Kristine Mahlstedt, Chatham, NY Anthony LoVullo, Schodack, Michael LoVullo, Houston, TX  and also 10 Great Grandchildren.

 

Ginny was active in her community at Greenbush Reformed Church, Greenbush Tri-X Club, Greenbush Garden Club, and many charitable organizations including Albany Assoc. of the Blind, and Albany Memorial Hospital Gift Shop (30 yrs.). Until the time of her passing she was an avid reader. She devoured books, newspapers (front to back); daily crossword puzzles  and Jumble solver. The family would like to thank the staff at Van Rensselaer manor for their loving care and attention during her stay there.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit with family on Friday January 21, 3:30-5:30 P.M at  Wm. J. Rockefeller Funeral Home 165 Columbia Tpke. East Greenbush followed by a service at 5:30 at the funeral home.

Following her cremation, internment will be at the convenience of the family at a future date, at the side of her late husband Robert, at Beechwood Cemetery in New Rochelle, NY.
