Obituary of Elizabeth M. Battisto

EAST GREENBUSH, NY        ELIZABETH MARY (BALLARD) BATTISTO

THE LORD’S SERVANT WAS GRANTED ETERNAL LIFE AS SHE SLEPT PEACEFULLY ON TUESDAY, JANUARY 11, 2022.  ELIZABETH (BETTY) WAS BORN ON FEBRUARY 7, 1930 IN HALCOTT CENTER, NY ONE OF SIX CHILDREN.  BETTY WAS A GRADUATE OF ZION BIBLE COLLEGE IN BARRINGTON, RI.  A WOMAN OF DEEP FAITH WHOSE JOURNEY TO SERVE THE LORD LED HER TO MEET AND MARRY HER HUSBAND JOSEPH JAMES BATTISTO, SR ON AUGUST 4, 1959; A UNION LASTING UNTIL JOSEPH’S PASSING IN 1991.  ELIZABETH AND JOSEPH WERE BLESSED WITH TWO CHILDREN; JOSEPH JAMES, JR. (TERRI) AND MARISSA ANNE (DONALD).

BETTY’S MINISTRY INCLUDED SERVING AS A SUNDAY SCHOOL TEACHER AND VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL COORDINATOR FOR THE CONGREGATIONS OF THE ASSEMBLY OF GOD CHURCH IN ALBANY AND NEW LIFE ASSEMBLY CHURCH IN EAST GREENBUSH.  BETTY ALSO SERVED ON THE BOARD OF THE NEW LIFE ASSEMBLY CHURCH.  SHE AND HER HUSBAND JOSEPH WERE FOUNDING MEMBERS OF THE FULL GOSPEL TABERNACLE CHURCH ON THIRD AVE. EXTENSION IN RENSSELAER.

BETTY WAS EMPLOYED BY THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT WITH POSITIONS IN FISCAL ADMINISTRATION AT THE VETERAN’S ADMINISTRATION HOSPITAL AND RETIRED FROM THE WATERVLIET ARSENAL IN 1988. SHE AND JOE ENJOYED VACATIONING IN OCEAN GROVE, NJ WHERE THEY INSTILLED A LOVE OF OCEAN GROVE IN THEIR CHILDREN AND GRANDCHILDREN.  BETTY WAS A GENTLE, KIND, CARING WOMAN WHO LOVINGLY WROTE POETRY FOR HER CHILDREN AND GRANDCHILDREN ABOUT LIFE’S MILESTONES AND ALWAYS ADDED A LITTLE HUMOR.   SHE WAS A DEVOTED WIFE, MOTHER, AND GRANDMOTHER.

IN ADDITION TO HER CHILDREN, BETTY IS SURVIVED BY HER BELOVED GRANDCHILDREN JOSEPH JAMES BATTISTO III, JENNIFER ELIZABETH REDMOND (TERANCE), DANA WHITCHER, AND GREAT GRANDSON JAYDEN REDMOND.  BETTY IS ALSO SURVIVED BY HER SISTERS CORA WHITE AND ELLEN WADE.  SHE WAS PREDECEASED BY HER BROTHERS MILTON AND DONALD BALLARD AND SISTER ELINOR WILLIAMS.

THE FAMILY WISHES TO ACKNOWLEDGE AND THANK THE STAFF AT EVERGREEN COMMONS NURSING CENTER FOR THEIR CARE.  DONATIONS IN BETTY’S MEMORY CAN BE MADE TO NEW LIFE ASSEMBLY CHILDREN’S MINISTRY, 292 HAYS RD. EAST GREENBUSH, NY 12061.
