Obituary of Rocco A. Prinzo
CASTLETON - Rocco A. "Rocky" Prinzo, 82, of Castleton, passed away peacefully at home Monday, October 4, 2021.
Rocky was born in 1939 in Jersey Shore, Pennsylvania, the son of the late Joseph A. and Anna Regina (Tenenini) Prinzo. His family soon moved to Albany where Rocky graduated from Philip Schuyler High School, class of 1957 where he was a lineman on the football team.
Rocky served in the Coast Guard from 1958 to 1960 in the North Atlantic and was extremely proud of his service. He worked at Williams Press, Prinzo's Bakery, and later as a bar manager for Cordial Greens Country Club and Rensselaer Elks, where he is a life member. He enjoyed playing golf, crossword puzzles, history, the St. Louis Cardinals, family dinners with his grandchildren, and a good martini in the afternoon. Rocky was also a charter member of the Knights of Columbus Council 6027.
His family will remember him fondly for his quick wit, legendary jokes, and stories that he would often grace us with as he sat at the head of the table for family dinners or in “his chair” in Rita’s living room. He was a good man, with a great heart, and loved by all who knew him.
He leaves behind his cherished wife of 59 years, Rita (Krug) Prinzo, daughter Cheryl Prinzo Rosenberger, son Michael R.(Denise) Prinzo, sister Joanna (Joseph) Landers, and sister-in-law Rosalie Prinzo. Beloved grandchildren Kyle (Lizzy) Rosenberger, Vincent (Kara) Prinzo, Kacy (Kenny) Wood, Dominic (Jessica) Prinzo, Philip Prinzo and Dante Prinzo. He is also survived by three great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by brother Carmen Prinzo.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral Tuesday 8:30am from the Wm. J. Rockefeller Funeral home and 9:00am mass at Church of the Holy Spirit, 667 Columbia Tpke. Interment will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Castleton, NY. Friends may call Monday from 4-7pm at the Wm. J. Rockefeller Funeral Home 165 Columbia Tpke., Rensselaer.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Rocky's name to Hudson Mohawk Humane Society, 3 Oakland Ave, Menands, NY 12204.
