Theodore Mulberry

Obituary of Theodore A. Mulberry

Theodore A. Mulberry 79 died September 19  at the firemans home in Hudson. Born in  Albany the son of Rosemary (Dwyer) and Theodore Axel Mulberry.

Ted worked for New York State in the Tax and Finance Department, and eventually settled in with the NYS Department of Transportation where he worked as a Computer Systems Analyst and Programmer until retiring in 1998 after 38 years.

In July of 1969, Ted joined the Clinton Heights Fire Department and quickly climbed the ranks to his most treasured position as Chief of the Department. He spent most of his adult life volunteering his free time to the firehouse and the members he served, his vocation there was a calling and one of the things Ted was most proud to be a part of. He formed many lifelong friendships and considered each firefighter to be a member of his extended family. After retiring as Chief, Ted was elected to the position of Fire Commissioner for many years and served proudly the residents of the Town of East Greenbush Fire District One. Ted is a member of FASNY and NYS Fire Chiefs Association and earned numerous awards and citations throughout his 53 years of service. Later in life, Ted joined the Oldsmobile Car Club and genuinely enjoyed the meetings and car shows where he could talk about and show his 1956 Oldsmobile classic car. That car was truly a labor of love and brought him many hours of enjoyment. Ted was known for the quick sense of humor and plethora of trivia-type knowledge he kept hidden away in his mind. If you asked Ted a question, it was best to sit down and get comfortable because his answer would include lots of information about the history of anything related to your question.

Ted is predeceased by the love of his life Patricia (Trisha) McCoy whom he married in 1962 and passed in 2006.

Ted is survived by his devoted children, his son Theodore S. (Christina) Mulberry and his daughter Patricia A. Mulberry.  Christina was Ted’s daughter-in-law, but he always considered to be more like a second daughter. Ted was the proud grandfather of three granddaughters, Megan Connelly, Justine Mulberry and Ashley Mulberry, and his great-granddaughters Melody and Alivia Jones, Ted is also survived by Gail Morehouse, Mary Morris and Aunt Bertie Hover as well as many nieces and nephews.
