Obituary of Barbara LaSalle Hall
RENSSELAER - Barbara LaSalle Hall, 80, of Rensselaer, passed peacefully in her sleep Wednesday, September 15, 2021, at her home.
Barbara was born in Brooklyn, New York, the daughter of Tony and Charlotte (Hill) Jones. Barbara lived most of her life in New York City, NY; and Corona, NY. She loved the city but longed to move to Upstate New York. She finally moved to the Capital Region and settled in Rensselaer County, NY. Barbara enjoyed her stay before getting ill.
A graduate from Flushing High School in Flushing, NY, Barbara received an Associate Degree in Applied Science from Shaw College in Detroit, MI. She wanted to become a nurse, but instead used some of her training to work with the developmentally disable. Her next major career move was into the classroom where she worked as an early childhood Assistant Teacher at Malcom X Day Care in Corona, NY 11368.
When she was not helping others, Barbara loved to read and spend time with friends. She loved sports, especially basketball and football, and found great joy in watching her son, Ian playing the game she loved. Barabra had a great zest for life. You could often find her dancing! She attended dance school and even tried to get her daughter and younger sisters to put on a show. She was also a little joker. She loved putting on a mask and trying to get a scare out of you. BOO!
While Barbara loved her family and friends, she also had a deep love of animals and cats were her favorite. She had animal figurines all throughout the house. Her last surviving cat is Midnight.
Survivors include her daughter Yvonne (Artellius) Jackson, son Ian Hall, sister Theresa Jefferson, nephew Sedrick Jackson, niece Kristina Moses; and many other close family members and friends.
She was predeceased by her brother Melvin Seymour and sister Betty Henderson. Barbara, Melvin and Betty were all extremely close. Now they can party together once again.
