Christina Marie (Chrissy) Harwood-Downey

 Christina Marie Harwood-Downey, 60  passed away  unexpectedly but peacefully on Wednesday, August 25, 2021 at St. Peter’s Hospital. Chrissy was born in Albany, the daughter of Barbara (Cunningham) Harwood and the late George Harwood.  Her brother Robert “Bobby”Harwood  passed away only four days before she did.  Chris has a younger sister Mary Harwood  and a younger brother Dan (Pam)Harwood.
Chris had four children.  Matthew Furlani, her first born predeceased her 9 years ago. She has three living children, Ashley Downey Joshua Downey  and Catherine Downey.   Her Grandchildren include Serenity, Naeveh, Melody(little bit)  Malavia , Nickoli , Prince And the late Lucious.
On August 12, 2004 Chrissy married Charles Downey in Rensselaer . They separated but have remained friends. 
Chrissy was a devoted mother and grandmother.  She loved her grandchildren dearly who know her as “GMA”. She loved her music and animals. Especially her cat “Strayboy” who she rescued.  She had a kind heart and always wanted to help out others.
There will be a wake service at Rockefeller Funeral Home on Thursday at 1:00-3:00, and family will receive visitors at the American Legion Post on Broadway from 3:30-6:00.
In lieu of flowers, donations are requested to be made in Chrissy’s name to the Hudson Mohawk Animal Rescue in Menands.
