Obituary of Charles A. Hellmuth

Charles Anthony Hellmuth, 84, of East Greenbush, died on Monday, August 23rd, 2021 after a courageous battle with cancer. Born in Rensselaer, he was the son of late Charles Joseph and Mary Margaret Hellmuth (O’Sullivan), and the husband to Jean Marie Hellmuth (Signer).  Charles and Jean lived in East Greenbush for over 50 years. Employed by Verizon as a Telecommunications specialist for decades, he also was a Life Member of multiple community organizations. His life-long dedication to community service included membership in the E.F. Hart Hose Fire Company, life member and past Chief of the East Greenbush Fire Company, life member of the New York State Association of Fire Chiefs, Hudson Valley Volunteer Firemen’s Association, Hudson Mohawk Volunteer Fireman’s Association, Rensselaer Elks Lodge 2073 and Knights of Columbus Council 6027. Survivors include his wife Jean (Signer) Hellmuth; his daughters Linda (Hellmuth) Hallenbeck and Eileen Hellmuth; three granddaughters Katelyn, Meagan and Jessica Hallenbeck; and two great grandchildren Bentley and Kendall Nault. Charles was pre-deceased by his sister Margeret Martelloni and his brother Frederick J. Hellmuth; he is survived by his sister Pauline Letzelter-Bohley and in-laws Edmund and Colleen Signer. Relatives and friends may call at the Rockefeller Funeral Home at 165 Columbia Turnpike, Rensselaer, NY 12144 on Thursday from 3–8pm, followed by a service 10 O'clock Friday morning at the Church of st Mary at Clinton Heights where the Liturgy of Christian death and burial will Celebrated.
