Carol Sinnott

Obituary of Carol Anne Sinnott

East Greenbush - Carol Anne Sinnott, 82, of East Greenbush, NY passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her family on Sunday, August 15, 2021. A sign of her determined, fighting spirit and her love of life and family, she had fought and survived cancer two times before and had very recently begun a third battle.

Born in Brooklyn, NY on August 10, 1939, to the late George and Rita (McLaughlin) Joyner, Carol was raised in Baldwin, NY and graduated from Queen of the Rosary Academy. Carol retired from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) as an Administrative Assistant having had a similar career in years before at Albany Medical Center and the New York State Senate. She had also been co-owner of Sinnott’s Wine and Spirits Shoppe in Schodack, NY.  As an active member of the Capital Region Women’s Network (CRWN), she gave generously of her time and resources to many causes supporting the personal and professional needs of women. She was also a former member of the East Greenbush Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary and the Bruen Rescue Squad. Carol’s catholic faith was very important to her. Most recently she attended St. Vincent de Paul in Albany and in prior years, Holy Spirit Church in East Greenbush.

Carol loved traveling the world with family and friends. Her photos from her many trips and of the people she loved were always captured so beautifully. Of course, this meant sometimes she was a hundred steps behind the group, or we were all posing until our smiling faces hurt! Those photos and memories will always be treasured! Every moment with family was truly precious to her, as it was to all her family. Her unconditional love and care will be an everlasting gift to us.

She is survived by her children Laura (David) Cook, Eileen (Glenn) Johnson, William M. (Nicole) Sinnott, and Michael (Andrea) Sinnott; grandchildren, Elisabeth (Phillip) McGeough, Glen (Noelle) Cook, Gregory (Nicole) Johnson, Matthew (Julia) Johnson, William F. (Brooke) Sinnott, Emily Sinnott, Kara Sinnott, and Julia Sinnott; great-grandchildren, Corbin, Henry, Mallory, and Toby; as well as her cherished brothers and sisters, G. William (Patricia) Joyner, Susan (Brian) Henderson, Virginia (William) Brandt, and Robert (Patricia) Joyner; former husband and dear friend, William E. Sinnott, as well as many very special nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.
