Obituary of Guy S. Smith

CASTLETON - Guy “Dutch” Smith, 68, of Castleton, passed away Saturday, June 26, 2021.

Dutch was born in Sayre, Pennsylvania, the son of the late Guy and Marguerite (Beers) Smith.  In addition to his parents he is predeceased by his beloved wife Mary E. (Lawrence) Smith. 

Dutch attended Ichabod Crane Central High School in Valatie, NY. 

He was a career Truck Driver and spent the last several years working at Warren W. Fane,  Inc. He took great pride in his work and had an incredible work ethic. 

Dutch had a passion for NASCAR, hunting, and riding Harleys.  He loved his family tremendously and was known by many as a generous friend.  He always made himself available to help those in need, day or night, no matter the project. 

Survivors include his six children Daniel Smith, David Smith, Tonya Smith, Justine Rathbun, Danielle Rathbun,  and Austin Smith.  In addition, brothers Gary Smith,  Carl Smith, and sisters Susan Smith Conner and Lorrie DeLyser.  Dutch is also survived by four grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
