Where do you begin with an amazing woman such as Mary Halloran? My wife and I had the fortunate pleasure to be able to meet Mary several years ago when she came to visit her favorite son Michael in Portland, Oregon. That special evening we had the opportunity to join Mike, his sisters and Mary for dinner at one of Portland’s finest restaurants for an evening of stories and laughter. As luck would have it I had the opportunity to sit next to Mary as she sat beautifully at the head of the table with absolute elegance and grace.As the evening would go on Mary in a very kind and thoughtful way would share some beautiful memories of her life, her children, living in New York, as well as being a resourceful New Yorker when less was more and also about later in life becoming a grandmother to so many wonderful grandkids. I will never forget her heart warming smile that evening. It just made you feel loved and welcomed beyond belief. There was this incredible aura of happiness that just seem to illuminate around Mary as she sat at dinner that night. It was almost as if you could tell that all Mary desired in life was achieved in her extraordinary memories of her family. Sitting there that evening with her children by her side she seemed to be the happiest woman you knew. You could just feel that she had lived her life with true love that many could only dream of. So to one of New York’s finest we say good bye for now but thank you Mary for being the incredible person you were.
