Obituary of Michael A. Prestipino Jr.
Michael A Prestipino Jr 86, born September 13, 1933, passed away Monday, June 29, 2020, at home surrounded by his family. Michael is survived by his wife of 63 years Josephine Prestipino and his children Nicholas Prestipino (Tess), Gina Prestipino (Jim Scaccia), Michael Prestipino III (April), grandchild Nickole Prestipino, and many nieces and nephews. Michael was a Private Specialist 3rd class in the Army from February 1954 until February 1956, during the Korean War. He served with the 508th Tank Battalion as a tank instructor. After being discharged from the Army he worked as a construction laborer for Albany Local Union 190 for over forty years. During that time he earned the nickname “ Iron Mike”. In retirement, Michael enjoyed traveling to Seattle to visit his oldest son Nick, and to Las Vegas with his wife, Jo. He took pride in making homemade wine with his son, Michael, and enjoyed spending quality time with his daughter, Gina, and granddaughter, Nickole. One of his favorite things to do in the summer was to have an ice-cold beer and many clam bakes with his entire family. As Italian tradition goes, Sundays were dedicated to food, wine, and most importantly family. Saluti, Mikey/Dad/Papa! In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to St. Judes Children’s Hospital, as Michael regularly supported this organization.
