Obituary of Paul W. Hartnagel

Paul William “Stache” Hartnagel 62 of Enfield, NH passed away unexpectedly on January 15, 2019 at the age of 62.

He was born December 19, 1956 in Albany NY, the son of Carl Hartnagel and Emilie (Phillips) Hartnagel.  He graduated from Maple Hill High School and then enlisted in the Navy where he achieved the rank of CMT2 earning three Navy Expeditionary Medals and two Navy Unit Commendation awards among others.

Services will be held May 23rd, 2019 at East Greenbush United Methodist Church. Time to come.

Paul volunteered for many organizations, Big Brothers of Hawaii, past president of The Capital District Single Ski Club, driving truck for the FANY Ride for many years and most recently was vice president of The Mascoma Lake Association.  He was a member of the VFW and was active with many Navy groups.

He held many jobs after the Navy, including working for Digital Equipment, and running a landscaping business, Call Paul.  He was webmaster for several businesses in the Capital District.  He drove school bus for a couple of different school districts, and first started driving motor coach first for L&S Journeys.  After moving to NH, he drove for Premier Coach of VT from the Warner NH garage.  He often joked that his third grade teacher told him no one would ever pay him to look out the window all day.  He loved seeing the different parts of New England and beyond and trying the local cuisine whenever it was possible. In addition he taught skiing for over 30 years and took great pride in being a PSI certified instructor.

He is survived by his partner Barbara Gifford of Enfield NH, his daughter Naomi Hartnagel of Silver Lake NY, his sister Kathy and her husband John Brown of Port St Lucie FL, his nephew Gregory and his wife Amanda Gannon of Drexel Hill PA, and his nephew David Gannon and his son Killian of Clewiston FL.

He is preceded in death by his parents Carl and Emilie.
