Obituary of Lawrence Taylor
Lawrence E. Taylor, Sr. of East Greenbush, was 83 years old when he was called home to the Lord on Wednesday, November 28, 2018. Larry was born in Hudson, NY. He was a salesman/manager for J.T. General Stores until his retirement. He was a Navy veteran of the Korean War and a Commander at the American Legion Melvin Roads Post as well as a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. Larry's community service included membership in the Washington Hose Fire Company in Hudson, New York, Grand Knight of the Cardinal Spellman Knights of Columbus, MSGR Reilly Assembly 4th Degree, and the Rensselaer Elks 2073. He was, also, President and Manager of the East Greenbush Little League and Babe Ruth, Founder and Manager of East Greenbush Mickey Mantle and Connie Mack Baseball Leagues. He chaired town-wide Cancer and Heart Fund Drives in East Greenbush at the Melvin Roads Post. In addition, he initiated the Town of East Greenbush Community Recognition Night and served as a Eucharistic Minister and Usher Coordinator at Holy Spirit Church. He was predeceased by his brothers, John and George Taylor. Larry is survived by his wife of 61 years, Lori Florence (Brys) Taylor , three daughters: Tamara (Gregg) Emmich, Michele (Marc) Zeyak and Janine Fusco, and two sons: Lawrence (Rhonda) Taylor Jr. and Joseph (Adrienne) Taylor, eleven grandchildren, Shannon, Paige, Courtney, Travis, Brian, Kristen, Jordyn, Marc, Shane, Zach, and Tony. He is, also, survived by seven great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the wake on Sunday, December 2, 2018, between 3 and 6 pm at Holy Spirit Church at 667 Columbia Turnpike, East Greenbush, New York and his mass on Monday at 10:00 am at Holy Spirit Church where a liturgy of Christian death and burial will be celebrated. Interment will be in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, 3rd Avenue Extension, Rensselaer, NY. Memorial donations may be made in Larry's memory to: Capital City Rescue Mission at 259 South Pearl Street, Albany, NY 12202.
