Obituary of Ronald J. Sorel
Ronald “RJ” Sorel, 63, died suddenly at home on Saturday, October 13, 2018.
Born and raised in Albany, RJ was employed at GE Plastics before realizing his dream career as owner/operator of East Street Construction, a business he tirelessly developed over the last two decades.
RJ was a dedicated father and family man. He was a passionate drummer and rock music aficionado, motorcycle enthusiast, and NY Jets fan. Sporting a larger-than-life personality, he was a friend to everybody and actively sought to brighten their day. He will forever be admired for his huge heart.
RJ is survived by his loving spouse Virginia (Keith) Sorel, his mother Edith Sorel, children, Jonathan, Jesse, Aaron, Alysha Serna, and Zachary, and his siblings, William Sorel, David Sorel, Julie LeBarron, Cece Sorel-Lanahan, Michele Warrick, and Christina Hoegemann. Adored by grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his father Amos F. Sorel and brother Amos Sorel III.
Friends and family are invited to attend his calling hours 4-7 p.m. on Friday, October 19, with a funeral service immediately following at the Rockefeller Funeral Home, 165 Columbia Tpk., Rensselaer. Entombment, Albany Rural Crematory.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Judes Children’s Hospital.
