Obituary of Herman Krug
Herman "Herb" J. Krug, Jr., 79, of East Schodack was called home to the Lord Wednesday, August 22, 2018 at Albany Medical Center. Herman was born in Albany to the late Wilhelmina and Herman Krug. He is also predeceased by daughter in law Donna Krug
Herman is survived by his wife: Elizabeth "Betty" A. (Reed) Krug, nine children: Nancy (Blake) Franklin, Joseph Krug, George (Jacki) Krug, Judy Krug, Stacy (Pete) Smith, Jennifer (Mike) Hurd, John (Sherri) Krug, Bill (Phyllis) Krug and Mary (Michael) Middleton. Herman also leaves behind 18 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and two sisters: Patricia (Steve) Colucci and Sally (Walt) Bertram,
Herb was a devoted family man and he loved to pass on his knowledge to the next generation. For over 50 years he was a lifetime farmer and co-owner of Krug's Brookside Farm (Greenhouse and Landscaping). He was a very PROUD 17 year survivor of throat cancer. He always attributed his conquering cancer to his incredible strong will. Herb was an avid supporter of Farmers Markets, member of Rensselaer Co. Agriculture & Horticulture Society, founding Member of Cordial Greens Sledders, Former Racer and Supporter of Lebanon Valley Speedway, member of NESCOT, Schodack Democratic Club, member of Capital District Farmers Market in Menands, and a strong supporter of the 4-H programs.
Herbs family would like to sincerely thank the staff of Albany Medical Center D2 and the East Schodack Fire Department for their compassionate support. The family would like to request donations be made to the East Schodack Fire Department in lieu of flowers.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his calling hours Saturday Sept 8, 2018 from 12-3. Followed by a memorial service at 3:00 o-clock from Wm. J. Rockefeller Funeral Home, Inc. 165 Columbia Turnpike, Rensselaer, NY. A celebration of his life will continue at Nassau Sportsman Club at 370 Boyce Rd, Nassau, NY following his memorial service
