CASTLETON - Charles L. Fribourg, Jr., 74, of Castleton, passed away Sunday, June 12, 2022, at St Peter's Hospital.
Charles was born in Albany, New York, the son of the late Charles and the late Elizabeth (Floeser) Fribourg. Charles received a commendation from the then Gov. Nelson Rockefeller for saving several elderly women from a burning home. He later went on to graduate Phillip Schuyler High School Class of 1965
He served in the Navy during the Vietnam Era. He was a Underground line mechanic for Niagara Mohawk For 33 years and was a member of the 25 year club with them.
He is a life member of the American legion Post 1231 was a former Eagle Scout. He enjoyed gardening, hotair balloons, spelunking and climbed Mount Marcy. Charles was a drummer and played in several local bands.
Survivors include wife of 48 years Catherine Fribourg a brother Harry D. Fribourg. He sis also survived by several nieces and nephews.
He was Predeceased by his beloved daughter Stephanie Ann Fribourg
Relatives and friends are invited to visitation hours on Friday from 4-7 pm in the Rockefeller funeral Home 165 Columbia Tpk. Rensselaer.
A Memorial funeral Mass will be held at 9:00 AM Saturday at the Holy Spirit Church 667 Columbia Tpk. East Greenbush with a burial to follow in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Charles’s name to the American Lung Association or Tunnel to Towers for American Veterans.
