Mary F. Lansing

RENSSELAER- Mary F. Lansing (Fox) "Nancy"  81. Passed on January 3, 2022 after a decline in health. Born and raised in the South End of Albany, NY.  Nicknamed by her father, she was known as “Nancy" to her family and classmates. A graduate of The Cathedral Academy which then became Cardinal McCloskey High School class of 1959. She moved to Rensselaer after marrying her husband, Jack in April 1982. She worked for NYSUT for 26 years, retiring in 1995 from the Office of General Counsel as a secretary and mentor to many. She also worked alongside her husband in the Lansing Engraving business that he ran in retirement. 

Mary loved traveling and captured her worldwide adventures with her instamatic camera and collection of souvenirs. She especially loved her trip to Ireland where she and Jack celebrated their 20th wedding anniversary in 2002.  She made lifelong friends where ever she went. Mary was artistically talented, loved skiing, antique fairs, shopping and going to the movies. There were never enough decorations for Christmas. She and Jack loved cruises, whale watching, parties and eating out. She loved flowers – and was frequently presented with beautiful arrangements by her husband and friends. 

Mary loved her pets; Hoagy and Sammy. All dogs took to her naturally and when not caring for her own, she opened her home for “doggie care" when friends went on vacation. 

Mary and Jack lived a wonderful and loving life together – cherishing each other in sickness and in health. Mary is survived by her siblings: William Fox Jr., Leonard (Antoinette) Fox, Thomas (Jane-deceased) Fox, Marcia (Wayne) Spaulding, Linda Fox. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews,  cousins, friends, step children, step grandchildren and her lifelong devoted friend Shawna Lambert. 

She was predeceased by: her husband Jack who died in 2012; her parents William and Anne (Bensinger) Fox; her siblings Helen (Fox)(James-deceased) Curry and John (Verna-deceased)Fox as well nephews and a niece. 

Mary will be remembered for her love, kindness, generosity and friendship.

Relatives and friends are invited to her calling hours Thursday Jan 20 from 9:00 am -10:00 am at Parish of St. Francis of Assisi former St. James Church on corner of Delaware Ave and St. James Place Albany followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:00.    

In lieu of flowers, donations in Mary's name can be made to the Hudson Mohawk Humane Society or the Alzheimer's Association. The family would like to express appreciation to the staff of Marjorie Doyle Rockwell Center and Our Lady of Mercy Life Center for their compassion and care.
