SELKIRK - Gordon Charles Kross, 82, of Selkirk, passed away Wednesday, December 30, 2020 at his long-time home in Selkirk that he loved. Gordon was born a twin on June 29, 1938, in Rensselaer, New York, the youngest of 8, to Walter G. and Edna M. (Hollner) Kross. He was predeceased by all his brothers and sisters.
Survivors include his loyal and beloved wife of 62 years, Madelyn M. (Blodgett) Kross, his caring and attentive children, Nathan G. (Jackie) Kross, Karen K. (Derek) Daugherty, and Stephen T. (Kelly) Kross. Gordon was the proud ‘Pop’ to Shawn, Eric, Bailey, Stevie and Joey and was so happy he was able to meet his adorable great grandchildren, Jackson and Kennedy. Additionally, he leaves 18 nieces and nephews with fond memories of their uncle.
Although Gordon enjoyed his job as a signalman for the D & H Railroad/CP Rail, he thoroughly enjoyed his 20 years of retirement even more. As one of Jehovah’s Witnesses, he used much of his time to teach others about the Bible. He mastered the true meaning of contentment, being satisfied to be home with his wife and ‘putter’ (his word) around the house. He was proud of the character of his children and grandchildren; his oldest son being his best friend. His appreciative spirit made it easy to care for him as he aged.
In lieu of an in-person memorial service at the Kingdom Hall, the service will be held via videoconference using ZOOM on Saturday, January 16, 2021 at 2:00 PM., The video conference will be open at 1:30 PM. The funeral discourse will begin at 2:00 PM. It will be followed by a Video Presentation. After, all are welcome to remain connected for an opportunity to visit.
