David C. Rossiter of Castleton died Tuesday, November 27, 2018 at Albany Medical Center. David was born in Oswego to the late Richard and Rhoda Rossiter. David graduated from Oswego High School and then Oswego State Teachers College completing his graduate work at Siena College. David started his teaching at Hadley Luzurne School teaching power tech and then continued onto the East Greenbush Central School where he taught industrial arts, tech and mechanical drawing, retiring after 32 years. Upon retirement he founded a sharpening business which he ran from his home for 20 years.
David was the past Exalted Ruler of the Rensselaer Elks 2073 and Honorary Life member. David was the Castleton little league treasurer and manager when his sons were young.
He was a member of the US Naval Reserves.
Predeceased by his Son, Scott J. Rossiter.
David is survived by his wife of 58 years Helen H. (Hamel) Rossiter one son: Brian D (Carole Boyer) Rossiter; two grandchildren Brianna Lyn Rossiter and Dylan Scott Rossiter; brother: Robert J. (Susan) Rossiter, niece Christine brother in law John (Donna) Hamel, niece Laurel and nephew Gregory
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his memorial calling hours Saturday 9:30am followed by Mass at 10:30 am from Holy Spirit Church 667 Columbia Tpk., East Greenbush, NY where a liturgy of Christian death and burial will be celebrated.
Private burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Castleton. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Scott J. Rossiter Memorial Funed and forwarded to Maple Hill High School 1216 Maple Hill Road Castlweton, NY 12033 or Castleton Ambulance.
